8. Determining When You Are Ready for Jaw Surgery

 

 

When the teeth are straight and the dental models show that the upper and lower teeth mesh (coordinate) together or fit like a puzzle, only then can surgery be scheduled.

 

Once both the orthodontist and the surgeon have agreed that you are ready for surgery,a surgery date will be coordinated by Dr. Patel’s office surgery scheduler with your schedule only after we have approval from the insurance company or other financial arrangements have been made.

 

You will need to set aside 6 weeks before the surgery for preparation and 6 weeks after the surgery for the recovery. For the 3 months period around the time of surgery, your schedule ideally is flexible.
